Cast in Silver: Witchcraft and Spirituality in the Cinema

Just when you thought you had seen it all —

We will discuss themes such as spectatorship and media hype, while trying to find solutions for more adequate representation. This class is for the movie buff, and media minded pagan alike.

Lilith, Maman Brigitte and Pomba Gira : The Dark Goddesses of Your Dreams

The ancient and powerful Goddesses of the night have been honored for centuries, and in some cases millennia. There is Lilith, mistress of the dark, draped in sensuality and strength who has long been demonized by a male dominated society. Next we have Maman Brigitte, Queen of the Dead, who devotees turn to for justice and protection. Last, but certainly not least, this workshop will discuss the bare breasted and un-apologetically sexual Pomba Gira who can spin the world. In this class we will talk about giving respect and tribute to these sacred feminine forces with shrines, spells, and more.

Foods of Love

Magickal recipes for love have been utilized throughout the ages in every different spiritual tradition. What are the magickal benefits to adding cinnamon or vanilla to a recipe? This workshop explores the lore and practice of creating foods of love.

Herbal Love Magic

Join us as we take a look at the sensual side of herbs and botanicals in this workshop. We will have rose petals in our bed and thyme in our hands as we discuss how to make herbal sprinkling powders and mojo bags for love and joy. Many of these herbs can also be used in the kitchen, and we will also look at aphrodisiac recipes you can make and share with those you love.

Tarot of Cruelty

Join me for a sensorial Tarot workshop based on the work of Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, and Edgar Allen Poe. In a melding of part ritual and part performance, participants will be invited to experience the tarot through sound, sight, taste, and sacred shock in this exciting workshop. “Art is not a mirror to reflect reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.”- Brecht. The divine dance of the Tarot is art, mirror, hammer and so much more…. It can be spiritual tools with which we shape ourselves and the world. This class is suitable for beginners and experts alike as we will journey down Tarot’s path by eating, listening, smelling and meditating our way through the major arcana.

Psychic Readings

To book an appointment for a psychic reading with Lilith Dorsey please email her at voodoouniverse@yahoo.com

Readings can be done by phone, skype, or in person if location permits. The charge for a reading is $75 and they last between 30-60 minutes.

I’ve been reading cards professionally for over twenty-five years, and have done psychic readings everywhere from the parking lot at a Grateful Dead show to Snake and Jakes Christmas Club Lounge in New Orleans to a corporate wellness event for Bloomberg. I can honestly say, “ What a long strange trip it’s been.”

When did you start divining? With what method of divination?

I started divining when I was 13. I got my first Ryder Waite Tarot Deck then, and was also studying numerology and astrology.

What method do you use most often now?

I use different methods for different purposes. I still consult the tarot, cocos, divining rods, astrological influences almost daily. I feel that’s it’s similar to checking the weather, although I realize this may sound reductionist. I am not diminishing the power of divination, I am just making an analogy about taking one’s spiritual umbrella when needed. In my personal experience it seems that tarot is able to give a more specific answer, and direct guidance on the matter at hand.

Most often I use the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot, but I have been known to also read with Tarot of the Boroughs ( which features me as the High Priestess card) and also the deck I developed myself based onthe work of Antonin Artaud, Charles Baudelaire, Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Rimbaud, called the Tarot of Cruelty.

How important is the choice of question?

I believe the question and it’s phrasing are crucial to receiving an accurate answer. The response I get when I ask about outcome or influences can often be very different. Influence either visible or invisible does not always shape outcome, nor does intent or feeling.
